Orthotic treatment
Orthotics work a little like spectacles. They are precisely calibrated devices designed to address areas of poor function within the foot and to help the rest of the body work more comfortably.

- A biomechanical assessment has identified a mechanical cause
- Off-the-shelf insoles have helped a little but not enough
- Existing devices need re-casting or refurbishing
How we assess the problem
- 01Orthotics are prescribed only after a biomechanical assessment.
- 02If custom devices are appropriate, we take a cast at a 45 minute casting appointment.
- 03The devices are then issued and reviewed at follow-up appointments.
What to expect
Custom casted devices involve a casting appointment, the devices themselves, and an issue plus two follow-up appointments. Off-the-shelf devices can often be issued and fitted more quickly, and the fitting fee is waived if they are issued at your initial assessment.
Aftercare
Orthotics need breaking in. We will tell you how to do that, what is normal in the first weeks, and when to come back if something does not feel right.

- Prefabricated devices fitted in clinic where they are suitable.
- Re-casting
- New devices from a fresh cast, including an alteration and re-issue.

- Off-the-shelf devices for growing feet.
